I’m an interior designer. My client is interested in your art.
Would you like to create some paintings for him?
That was the beginning of my interior project. Colors had to go good with the whole concept of the interior. We measured the walls and made sure what dimentions of painting would be the best. And then I was given total freedom. The client trusted my taste and didn’t restrain me at all. I was working for the first time at such a project and without knowing exactly what was waited from me, except that it had to look beautiful. I started with sketches and then I understood that for sketches I need almost as much time as for the complete painting. The first paintings have their small twins, but once I gave it up. Painting I put all my soul inside and I put so much in the sketch as well. I just remembered that the conceptual artist by Sol LeWitt said that for he put so much time into an artwork that he couldn’t feel ashamed while showing it to Giotto.
The modern interior of the flat with the minimalist concept made me avoid the bright color, it demanded the sophisticated mix of colors, of their tones, shades. The colors shouldn’t take the whole attention at it, but it shouldn’t be boring too. And I remembered “The Black Square” by Malevich on this spot and the metaphysics of color.
It was interesting to work at this project although there were some nights I spend at my studio looking at the paintings and trying to hear their whispering.
I’m satisfied both with the result. Both the paintings and their new family feel good together. They used to communicate silently with their souls.
I’m very thankful to the Universe for taking care of me and sending me interesting projects.
